The Big House Report (TBHR) staff makes game predictions for Michigan vs. BYU. Take a look!

Game Predictions:

Michigan vs. #22 BYU

Derek Devine – @DerekWDevine

Michigan 24, BYU 21
Jim Harbaugh and company will be challenged mightily this weekend. Is going to take a brilliant game for the Wolverines to beat the Cougars. I do not believe Michigan is the better team, but I do believe BYU can be outplayed. If Michigan is able to trade stops and scores, they will win. Look for the Wolverines to contain the BYU running game, leaving it all in the hands of Tanner Magnum.
Jake Rudock shines and the Wolverines end up victorious by way of a late defensive stop.

Von Lozon – @Von_Lozon

BYU 27, Michigan 21.

I think this game is going to be very close, but in the end the result will be a loss. Rudock still doesn’t look confident in the pocket and has continued to make costly mistakes. I was really hoping, and expecting, that he would correct those mistakes last week against UNLV; that didn’t happen. I think this whole game is up to him on how Michigan fares against the Cougars. I’d really like to see Michigan do the same things that they have been doing: pounding the ball and playing tough defense. If they can do these successfully again and somehow Rudock finds his mojo, the Wolverines have a shot. C’mon, Michigan…prove me wrong!

David Mormino – @DavidMormino

Michigan 21, BYU 13

Michigan is in unfamiliar territory as of late, winning two-straight games in route to a 2-1 record heading into their matchup with twenty-second ranked BYU. Ty Isaac is shaping into the running back that many thought he could be once he transferred from USC, seemingly getting more and more touches as the season progresses, which will only add to the explosive running attack that has shown up in recent weeks. Many people pressed the panic button after the week one loss at Utah, but were unjustified in doing so. This isn’t a terrible football team, but this isn’t a national title contender, either. They make plays on offense to put up solid points, but won’t blow teams out of the water, especially this BYU team.

It will be interesting to see how Michigan handles defending Tanner Magnum, and that will ultimately decide the football game. I don’t see late game heroics from BYU, I see a defense getting the ball driven down their throats all game, and ultimately folding. Jimmy and the boys get the Harbaugh express rolling to 3-1.

BYU 24, Michigan 21

Michigan will upset #22 BYU this Saturday and I predict the score will be 24-21. The Michigan defense will hold up in the fourth quarter and prevent BYU from winning its third come from behind game this season.
As for what I want to see happen this week, well similar to last, better quarterback play from Jake Rudock. He needs to start connecting on these deep balls so the defense will back up out of the box. Defenses will just start playing the run and short passes so Rudock’s accuracy must improve on throws over 20 yards. If he can hit a few bombs then the offense will have a good day and it will lift some pressure off of its defense.

Patrick Connors – @TheRealPConnors

Michigan 28, BYU 17

Michigan comes out guns a blazing in this one. They will have a chip on their shoulder and it’s the final tune-up before Big Ten play. However BYU will make this game close in the second half. In the end, Michigan’s ground game will be too much in the end. I expect De’Veon Smith and Ty Issac to have great games and Rudock will hit a couple deep balls this week.

I want to see the offense play a full game this week. They need to put together a full game before conference play begins.

Craig Compton – @Craig_TBHR

Michigan 24, BYU 17
Michigan needs to control the game up front once again this week. They need to continue to establish the run game, and not turn the ball over. If the offense can manage that, the Wolverines win the game 24-17

Jim Salow – @JSalow14

Michigan 28, BYU 10

Expect another win for Michigan, but don’t expect too much out of them. They might win by a touchdown or two comfortably, but this isn’t a team that’s designed to blow the doors off of anybody by 21+ points. These guys grind, and while that might not result in the fanciest look on the scoreboard, it certainly shows up on the field.” Michigan 28 BYU 10
