Game Recap: Michigan Loses Fourth Straight, Falls To SMU

Posted on Posted in Michigan Basketball

The Michigan Wolverines have now lost four straight games after falling to SMU today, 62-51. Once again the Wolverines started slow as shots weren’t falling and little effort was shown on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. It seemed like it would be another loss immediately. However, Michigan fought back this time, and the Wolverines woke up near the end of the first half to pull within three.

Michigan started slow in the second half, like they did against Arizona, but they were eventually able to get it going to gain the lead. The Wolverines just couldn’t hold on to the lead as the Mustangs went on a 17-3 run to end the game and earn the win.

Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton Jr. played well today. Irvin ended up with 17 points and 5 rebounds, while Walton Jr. had 11 points and 2 rebounds. Caris LeVert continued to struggle in this game as he was 1/9 with only four points. Michigan’s shooting continued to be ice cold as they were 31% shooting and were 22% from behind the arc. Rebounding continued to be a problem as they were out rebounded 44-28.
