Concerned about how to spend your Saturday afternoon with Michigan Football having a Bye Week? Well, check out Michigan Basketball as they start regular season play against the Hillsdale Chargers at 2p.m. on Watch ESPN/ESPN3.
A new banner will be hanging in the rafters prior to tip-off, which will easily be the most magical moment of the game. Michigan ran away from Wayne State in their exhibition opener, and will more than likely do the same against Hillsdale today.
After seeing a heavy dosage of the starters, don’t be surprised if Beilein once again shares the playing time throughout the roster. Look for more production from Derrick Walton tonight, who had a quiet 11 points in the exhibition opener. The rotation between the big men should continue to be interesting, so look for Donnal, Doyle, Wilson and Bielfeldt to all split time. Caris LeVert will look like a star, and hopefully Zak Irvin can continue to play above the rim!
The Hillsdale Chargers are amidst a rebuilding year as they lost three starters, including their most productive player Tim Dezelski, who averaged over 20 points a game, and 10 boards a season ago.
However, The Chargers will have some size in the paint with Jason Pretzer, who is listed as a seven-footer. Look for him to get a lot of touches down low early, as the Chargers will try to use his size as an advantage for the offense.
What to Expect
Expect Michigan to run away with their season opener. Michigan will start hot from the floor, build a solid lead going into the break, and coast during the second half. Look for Zak Irvin to lead all scorers, and a double-digit performance from a few other players as well. Michigan’s points-off-turnovers will be the key factor in today’s match-up.
Prediction: Michigan 86, Hillsdale 52
