Although it was a close game throughout, the Michigan Wolverines still couldn’t get a win when they needed it. Brady Hoke took to the stand Monday to discuss this last week’s loss at Rutgers and looking ahead to this weekend’s home game against Penn State.
-Hoke started off by saying that he thought the team was united throughout and played hard together. The effort was something Hoke was proud of.
-Derrick Green broke his clavicle and will miss the rest of the year. Hoke declined to comment on some of the other injuries including, including Jabrill Peppers’.
-Devin Gardner’s leadership was “outstanding” and he has matured in the three-and-a-half years he has been at Michigan.
-When asked about the Amara Darboh incompletion call: “That play is over with and we’ve got to move forward because to start to focus on Penn State.”
-The Green injury affects the offense but Hoke is very confident in the three guys that will fill in for him. “We will miss him but that’s why there are 115 guys on this team.”
-Hoke mentioned that he is not worried about fan attendance for the Penn State game this weekend.
-Hoke also mentioned that he believes De’Veon Smith is capable of being an every-down back.
-The 10-man punt return was due to lack of communication between the coaches and the players. “More coaching and that’s on me.”
