Yesterday, Brady Hoke had his weekly press conference to discuss the game on Saturday vs. Miami (OH) and also talk what’s ahead for this week against Utah. Here are some key points.
-Need to do a better job seizing opportunities to force turnovers.
-There is a big chance that Jabrill Peppers will return punts again.
Peppers held up pretty well returning punts and will get better every time he plays.
-Hoke “did not feel like” talking about any of the guys that did not play on Saturday, including Devin Funchess.
-Derrick Green had the majority of the reps but having Deveon is a big plus and we “never know” when Deveon could get the majority of the reps.
-Greens success has been from working in the weight room and from the push from blockers up front.
-The punt at the end of the half from Wiles was a “fundamental flaw” for still going into the endzone.
-Hoke believes that special teams and the explosiveness of Utah’s offense will be deciding factors in the upcoming game.
-Utah has been getting a lot of tackles for loss on the defensive side of the ball and “they haven’t blitzed has much as they would like to. I think we will see more of that.”
-With Funchess being out, it gives Michigan the chance to teach the others guys more and that helped out Darboh and Chesson with their performance.
-Hoke mentioned that even though they had a sack and 9 hits on the quarterback, they are still not where they want to be.
