Michigan Basketball: Jon Teske Commits to Wolverines

It’s been a busy few days for Michigan basketball, as 2016 center Jon Teske (Medina, OH) committed to the Wolverines on Thursday evening.

The announcement came via Teske’s Twitter account.

He is the first commitment to John Beilein‘s 2016 recruiting class. He is not currently rated by any of the major recruiting services, but many believe he is a rising prospect.

At 6-11, 210 pounds, Teske is very raw offensively, which is not unheard of for a young big man still trying to develop his game. He is going to have to put on some muscle, but in time he should be a nice offensive player with good post moves and the ability to hit shots from the perimeter.

While he looks like he possesses the potential the be a good fit at center offensively in Michigan’s system, he is already a very good prospect defensively. Teske is a skilled shot blocker and rim protector.

Time will tell what kind of player he is, but Beilein has done a fine job of pulling kids from the state of Ohio.
