Kings, Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Warriors Work Out Nik Stauskas

Posted on Posted in Michigan Basketball

We are just a little over a week away from the NBA Draft, and former Michigan Wolverine, Nik Stauskas, worked out with a handful of NBA teams yesterday. Among the group watching Stauskas were:

Sacramento Kings,
Denver Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves
Golden State Warriors

Stauskas seems to fit best with the Warriors, one of the best pure shooting teams in the league, but he can also make a nice living if he ends up in Denver as well. He is a gifted scorer, and that is well documented, but he also developed into one of the best offensive players in the entire NCAA, virtually overnight.

Steve Kerr and Stauskas would have a great relationship, and have a lot in common as players. Although Kerr is long-since retired, he has not been away from the game, and that can help develop Stauskas more.

The Kings and Timberwolves are appealing in their own right; a very young roster with a lot of talented players, Stauskas can help each team potentially get over the hump, and into the playoffs.

Bottom Line:
If you would like to see Stauskas develop as an outside scorer, you’re screaming right now for the Warriors to draft him. But if you enjoyed Stauskas’s development as a driving scorer, Denver would be the ideal spot for him to land among the 5 included. If seeing how good of a player Stauskas really can be, then you’d want him to be drafted earlier by either the Kings or Timberwolves.

The NBA Draft is June 26th, 2014. We will continue to update you on where each UM basketball player ends up.
