The Michigan Wolverines have added their sixth member of the 2014 recruiting class with the commitment of shooting guard Aubrey Dawkins out of Palo Alto, Calif. FlyerHoops first reported the news.
Dawkins joins Kameron Chatman, Ricky Doyle, DJ Wilson, Austin Hatch, and Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman in John Beilein’s 2014 recruiting class.
He is a three-star prospect, according to the 247 Composite Rankings, and the son of Stanford head basketball coach Johnny Dawkins.
With a bunch of turnover after Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III, Mitch McGary, and Jon Horford announced their futures, the Wolverines have scrambled a bit to put together their 2014-15 roster, and have done a nice job with it.
There are a lot of young players in Michigan’s backcourt going forward, and what Dawkins will bring is range from the perimeter and athleticism. He might not be the most talented player on the floor at any given time, but he is quick and a hard worker.
Michigan’s roster for next season is all but complete, with one scholarship spot remaining. They are awaiting the decision of former Nevada forward Cole Huff, who is coming off of his sophomore year with the Wolfpack. He would have to sit out next season.
