Nik Stauskas is the Big Ten Player of the Week after Sunday’s win versus Michigan State.
Stauskas erupted for 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in the victory. He had majority of his points in the second half, and he, along with Glenn Robinson III and Caris LeVert, led their team to an impressive 79-70 victory over the Spartans in Ann Arbor.
The 25 point explosion comes after scoring only 11 against Wisconsin at home, a 75-62 loss, and 15 points against Ohio State, a 70-60 victory. It’s no surprise that as Stauskas goes, so do the Wolverines. He played 37 minutes against the Spartans, 32 minutes against Wisconsin, and 38 minutes against the Buckeyes, which is asking a lot, but Stauskas doesn’t seem to mind; especially if it translates to victories.
Over the next few weeks, and possibly months, Stauskas will be the guy to lead the Wolverines. His play and energy is needed, as well as his threat to hit deep 3’s. LeVert has come on as of late, but every Wolverine fan knows that this is Stauskas’s team. If he can maintain this level of play, he will be a big help if Michigan wants to make another run at a National Championship.
The Wolverines last 4 games are: February 26th at Purdue
March 1st vs Minnesota
March 4th at Illinois
March 8th vs Indiana.
Michigan currently leads in the standings of the Big Ten.
