As I’m sitting here typing out a thank you post because we just hit over 100,000 page views, I never would’ve predicted that we have gotten this far. If TBHR were a sport, you would find terrible odds on sportsbetting-sites.com.
But you, the loyal reader, stuck with us. You were there through the growing pains and you supported us as we went through the many changes our website has seen over the year and a half.
It’s funny, I started this website (originally as WolverineCENTRAL with a blogspot affiliated URL) for resume material. As most of you know, I am an aspiring journalist. So, I was trying to get as much journalistic experience as I possibly could. I had no idea that this simple little “project” would turn into something so much greater.
It started with interviews. Marcus Ray, Brandon Williams, Troy Woolfolk, and many other former Wolverines. Then, it went into the recruiting aspect. Interviews with Logan Tuley-Tillman, Shane Morris, Devin Funchess, etc. From there onward, TBHR took a life of it’s own. Even the name took a change. Instead of thebighousereport.com, it is now referenced as TBHR. The amazing thing about all of that is, people actually know what you’re saying when you talk about ‘TBHR’. That alone, is an amazing thing. From starting at the bottom and working our way up, we’ve gained a lot of ground. Even if our odds at becoming the largest Michigan-based website on the internet are low, we’ve been counted out before, even a list of top NFL betting sites wouldn’t give us a chance. We’d be like the 2008 Detroit Lions, hypothetically. But, that’s okay. We’ll get there one day.
I couldn’t make this dream possible without the aid of Twitter. Twitter is a very underrated tool for aspiring journalists and for people seeking experience with social media. Twitter makes dreams happen, whether you believe that or not. The loyal followers, retweeters, and supporters made my dream a near-reality, I just need to keep moving forward.
We aren’t as popular as many other websites that are out there, but we’ve done well for not quite two years of existence, I’ll take it. Not to mention, you can now buy TBHR merchandise. Which I always have to pinch myself and think “Really?! People care enough to wear the TBHR brand on them?! That’s insane!”
100,000 page views seems small in the grand scheme of things, but considering what this website was originally intended for, it’s crazy to think about. Our Twitter has exploded, Facebook is growing, and this is all thanks to you.
To all of you, every single one of you. Whether you read this post or not, thank you. Thank you for never counting me out, thank you for never counting TBHR out. We are in this position because of you. For that, I am forever thankful.
Go Blue, for now and forever.
